Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES:

General Guidelines: A user account must be created to submit an article for review. There is no submission fee to submit or publish with the journal. Once logged into the user account, upload the submission file (Microsoft Word DOCX or DOC). Questions can be sent to the Editor via email (Kathleen.Schmand@mtsu.edu).

  • All documents should be formatted according to American Psychological Association
    (7th Edition) guidelines.
  • All submissions should be written in American English.
  • All material must be original and any permissions or copyright for charts or images must be secured by the author before submitting to the journal. Please submit any needed copyright documentation obtained for images or charts.
  • Article submissions should be between 2,000-4,000 words (not including Works Cited).
    • Text should be single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Other section submissions should be 250-1,000 words (not including Works Cited).
    • Text should be single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Please submit the following documents for all article submissions:
    • Title page, including author details and acknowledgements.
    • Blinded manuscript with all author details omitted.
    • Figures, tables, images, and appendices may be included in the manuscript or sent as separate files. Images should be sent in .jpg formats.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format. Using the article template is encouraged but not required.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
